The Domestic and International Airports are only 10 minutes drive from Yorkey’s Knob. Hire cars can be booked through our tour desk (ask us to recommend local operators) or public transport on buses are readily available.

Getting Here

• Airport: The Cairns International and Domestic Airports are only 10km away.
• Rail: Trains operate between Brisbane and Cairns. The trip takes about 26 hours. The Railway Station is located near the Cairns CBD, about 10 minutes from The York Apartments.
• Bus: Luxury air-conditioned coaches with express services travel to Cairns from all major Australian cities.
• Self-Drive: If you are driving, the main access roads are the Bruce Highway and the Matilda Highway. From Cairns City, head north along the Captain Cook Highway and Yorkey’s Knob is well signposted about 10 minutes drive from Cairns.
• By Sea: Cairns is well serviced with marinas and by an increasing number of overseas cruise ships. The Half Moon Bay Marina is the local Yorkeys Knob marina, home of the Yorkeys Knob Boating Club and many sailing and motor yachts.

Climate

Tropical North Queensland has two distinct seasons; a winter period of warm temperatures and low rainfall, and a summer period of balmy temperatures and higher rainfall.

Winter (May-Oct) offers idyllic conditions - sunshine, fresh breezes and low humidity. Summer (Nov-Apr) has a lush tropical atmosphere with electrical storms and afternoon downpours which feed the magnificent waterfalls in the nearby rainforests. This is a spectacular time to visit our region.
